DESCRIPTION:Receiving a grant is wonderful news and worth celebrating. At the same time\, it often comes with a range of practical questions that need to be sorted out: What does it mean to move from a salary to a grant? How do taxation\, insurance\, and unemployment benefits work? What needs to be taken care of\, and when? \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we focus on the practical aspects of working on a grant in Finland\, with the aim of giving a clear overview of what grant-funded researchers need to know. We are happy to welcome Ari Jouhki\, Team Leader at Mela — the institution responsible for the social insurance of grant recipients in Finland — and Miia Ijäs-Idrobo\, Senior Adviser at the Union of Research Professionals (Tieteentekijät). They will guide us through the key practicalities of working on a grant\, including insurance\, unemployment benefits\, taxation\, and your rights as a grant recipient. \n\n\n\nThe webinar will be held in English and is open to all doctoral researchers and early-career scholars in political science (and beyond). \n\n\n\nYou can register at https://elomake.helsinki.fi/lomakkeet/wzHCL/lomake.html to receive the Zoom link.
